NDC Guber Candidate, Gwarzo Picks Kwankwaso Son As Running Mate

The National Democratic Congress, NDC Gubernatorial Candidate, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has taken the Kano Political scene to surprises as he picked the eldest Son of his godfather Kwankwaso, Mustapha Kwankwaso as his running mate in the forthcoming 2027 General Elections.
This was made known by the spokesperson of Kwankwasiyya, Dr Habibu Muhammad Mailemo on the pages of the movement WhatsApp.
He said, “Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo unveiled Hon Mustapha Rabiu Musa kwankwaso as running mate for 2027 Governorship Election”
The announcement was made on Monday following the formal presentation of Hon. Kwankwaso before the party’s caucus and key stakeholders during a consultative meeting held at Miller Road, Kano.
Similarly in a statement issued by the spokesperson to the governorship candidate, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, the selection of Hon. Mustapha Kwankwaso was described as a strategic and well-considered decision aimed at strengthening the party’s vision of inclusive governance, youth empowerment, economic development, and effective service delivery across Kano State.
According to the statement, Hon. Kwankwaso emerged as the party’s preferred choice after extensive consultations and careful consideration of several qualified individuals.
Speaking on the development, Comrade Gwarzo expressed confidence in his running mate’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to the administration’s agenda, noting that his experience, leadership qualities, and grassroots appeal make him a valuable asset to the ticket.
Hon. Mustapha Kwankwaso, a former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Kano State, brings with him extensive experience in public service, youth development, and community engagement.
The statement further noted that the NDC believes the Gwarzo-Kwankwaso ticket represents a strong combination of competence, experience, integrity, and commitment required to address the challenges facing Kano State and provide purposeful leadership for its citizens.
The choice of Hon. Mustapha Kwankwaso is widely regarded as a significant boost to the party’s political structure and grassroots support base as the NDC intensifies preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to providing a credible alternative for the people of Kano State and called on members, supporters, and stakeholders to remain united in advancing its vision of progress, transparency, accountability, and good governance.
