Emasculating Of Local Governments By Kwankwaso Responsible for the Hardships Facing Nigeria — APC Chief Musician
From Muhammad Kabir, Kano
It has been alleged that the negative positions taken by Former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State on the State 44 Local Governments by refusing to released their allocations was responsible for the hardship today Nigerians are facing.
Submitting the allegations a Popular APC Political Musician Dauda Kahutu Rarara, accused the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of playing a role in creating some of the challenges currently facing Nigeria.
Rarara made the allegation in an interview in Kano, where he said that many of the economic and administrative problems affecting the country today stem from policies and decisions taken in the past by the likes of Kwankwaso who pressured Local Governments to bankruptcy.
According to him, one of the major issues was the withholding of local government funds by higher levels of government instead of allowing local councils full control over their finances to carry out grassroots development projects.
“Local government funds are the lifeline of the people. They are what bring government services closer to ordinary citizens at the grassroots level. When those funds are withheld or controlled elsewhere, essential services meant for the people are affected,” he said.
The musician argued that the country’s current difficulties began when this practice was introduced, adding that its effects are still being felt across various sectors of the nation.
He claimed that the lack of financial autonomy for local governments has slowed down development efforts, particularly in key sectors such as education, healthcare, water supply, and rural infrastructure.
Rarara further stated that if Nigeria is to achieve sustainable development and economic growth, local governments must be granted full authority to manage their affairs and resources without interference.
His remarks come amid ongoing debates over local government autonomy and calls for reforms to ensure that local councils have direct access to their allocations and greater independence in governance.
An efforts to hear from Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso or any of his Kwankwasiyya supporters to respond to the allegations made by Rarara proved abortive
