Kano North Senatorial Seat:Former Minister Tijjani Gwarzo Challenges Barau Jibrin

Former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Tijjani Mohammed Gwarzo, has thrown a strong challenge to the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, in the contest for the Kano North Senatorial District in the 2027 general Elections.
Tijjani Gwarzo who was addressing hundreds of his supporters while accepting to contest the Kano North Senatorial District seat, noted that he had served as Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government for four terms, and also served as Deputy Governor of the State, and Minister of State,among so many other positions.
“Today I am the most experienced person to contest the Senate seat, that would benefit my people and the state, this is because despite the fact that we are not doing anything today, still we created a vocational center training for hundreds youths and with a N5000 monthly incentive,” he said.
He said this initiative would be replicated in the entire 18 Local Government Areas of the Kano Senatorial District, with each having the vocational training center, which he said would help in curtailing problems of thuggery and other social vices.
“I served as Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government for four terms with the support of my people, we were able to facilitate critical human and Infrastructure development projects, rural and urban electrification and the establishment of vocational centers,” the former minister said.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for his visionary leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda, more specifically the establishment of Nigeria Education Loan Fund, which he said had open windows of opportunities for young Nigerians.
“The President is doing well in key infrastructure such as Kano-Kaduna-Abuja Highways, the AKK gas pipelines and the Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Katsina, Maradi rail lines, and the projects have immense economic benefits for Northern Nigeria,” he said.
Gwarzo also recalled that while serving as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development between 2023-2024, he contributed to the initiation of the creation of Renewed Hope Cities and Estates, the review of housing and Urban Development laws and facilitation of Presidential Intervention that benefited the people Kano.
In his remarks, Muntari Ishaq Yakasai, a former Commissioner and and former Municipal Local Government Chairman, advised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to appoint Hon.Murtala Sule Garo as his Deputy, assuring that with Garo Kano would be safe and secure.
