We Establish Alistiqama University To Bridge Rural Educational Drifts.. Graduates 1,104, Senator Kawu Sumaila

The Chairman of Alistiqama University, Sumaila, and a Senator Representing Kano South, Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, has said that his decision to established an Islamic University, in rural surrounding areas of Somalia, Local Government area of Kano State, was deliberate, mission-driving choice, for generations, drawn to one mind in rural communities, that have no abundance in their homeland, and migrate to urban centers in search of higher education and opportunities.
Speaking during the University combined Convocation of 23/24/25, which produced 1,104 Graduated Students, Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, said the trend that fuels rapid rural to urban migration, strains city infrastructure and blue-turban society the livelihood of people all in search of viable Education, has been disturbing him a reason why he adopted the idea of having a first rural University of International standard..
“By bringing a university of international standards directly to this rural area, we are reversing that trend, and we are proving that higher education, economic opportunity, and urban development demand, not just in rural communities, but right here in our local communities.”
He added that with the University, “We are empowering local youth, boosting the rural economy, and creating a sustainable ecosystem where knowledge is strong at home. This dream could not have been realized without the extraordinary leadership of our principal officers, as well as generosity, guidance, and dedication of selfless leaders, reliable elders, institutions and government.
“We began as a mission to expand access to quality, value-binding higher education in our nation, and today matured into a vibrant institution of academic excellence and character development.”
Kawu Sumaila, said It is not a big deal. I wish to place on record our tremendous appreciation to our former chairperson, His Royal Highness, Alain Jamiro Abdul Kareem, whose uniform leadership and personal guidance has given this university exceptional strength and patience.
Speaking at the Convocation, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, expressed happiness with the University, and said that the ideology has aligned itself with his educational missions, a reason why he has no option but to tremendously support the growth of the Institution.
Governor Yusuf, explained that right now his government has paid for the Continuation of 85 Medical and Engineering Students sponsored by his Government.
The Governor, reminded that when he came onboard Education was in a near comatose, he introduced a State of Emergency on Education in the State, “today we three years down the line celebrating our success”.
