Governor Yusuf Presents Comprehensive Development Plan To EU Ambassador

The Government of Kano State, has formally presented its Urban Development Strategy Plan to ambassadors and representatives of the European Union (EU) led by European Union Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Gautier Mignot, during a high-level engagement aimed at fostering sustainable urban growth, investment opportunities, and international development partnerships.
Speaking during the presentation, the State Deputy Governor of Kano State, Murtala Sule Garo, who represented the Governor, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transforming Kano into a modern, resilient, and economically vibrant urban center through strategic planning, infrastructure renewal, environmental sustainability, and inclusive development initiatives.
He said the Urban Development Strategy Plan outlines a comprehensive framework for addressing key urban challenges, including population growth, housing deficits, transportation systems, waste management, climate resilience, and the provision of essential public services.
According to him, the strategy is designed to align with global best practices and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while responding to the unique needs and aspirations of Kano’s residents.
The Governor emphasized that the plan represents a forward-looking vision for Kano State and serves as a roadmap for coordinated investments in urban infrastructure, economic development, and social welfare.
He highlighted the importance of partnerships with development agencies, international organizations, and private-sector stakeholders in achieving the strategy’s objectives.
The European Union ambassadors commended the Kano State Government for its proactive approach to urban planning and sustainable development.
They expressed interest in exploring areas of collaboration that could support the implementation of the strategy and enhance the quality of life for citizens across the state.
The Ambassador, noted that the engagement marks another significant step in Kano State’s efforts to strengthen international cooperation and attract strategic investments that will drive inclusive growth and long-term prosperity.
He said that the Kano State Government remains committed to building a smart, sustainable, and globally competitive urban environment that creates opportunities for all residents and future generations.
