Garkuwa Babban Defects To APC Declare Loyalty To Gwamna Candidature
From Muhammad Kabir, Kano
Prominent chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Mohammed Danjuma, popularly known as Garkuwa Babba, has not only defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, but declared his full support to the Governorship Candidature of Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna.
Garkuwa Babba, a former ADC aspirant for the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency and National Chairman of the ADC House of Representatives Aspirants Forum, announced his defection when he met with Gombe State Governor and APC leader, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, in Abuja.
The former ADC chieftain, described as a key pillar of the party’s grassroots structure in Gombe, pledged to mobilise his political network in support of Governor Yahaya’s 2027 senatorial bid, the APC governorship candidate, Dr Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, and other party candidates.
He attributed his decision to the governor’s leadership and development record, saying the administration’s achievements had strengthened confidence in the APC and made the opposition less attractive to voters.
Garkuwa Babba said his defection was aimed at supporting continuity, stability and further development in Gombe State.
Receiving him into the APC, Governor Yahaya welcomed the former ADC leader and his supporters, describing the development as a boost to the ruling party.
The governor pledged to sustain an inclusive and united APC, while stressing that unity, loyalty and collective effort were essential to advancing the interests of Gombe State.
Yahaya said the APC remained open to individuals and groups committed to a peaceful, stable and prosperous Gombe, adding that Garkuwa Babba’s political experience, network and grassroots reach would be valuable to the party.
