From Muhammad Kabir, Kano
The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Center, CISLAC, has expressed displeasure over what it’s terms unilateral removals of names of Governorship Candidates in Kano, Gombe, Platuae and other States by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
The Head of CISLAC, Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, said in a Local Radio Interview in Kano, “it is not acceptable for INEC to removed names of high places opposition Candidates in States that are facing huge contest and kept quite”.
Rafsanjani, said, “INEC owed a responsibility for Nigerians to explained why they removed the names of Candidates of opposition Parties at this crucial hours of electioneering period, this cannot just go like that”.
He said, “even if they have some problems which to me I don’t think they have violated any serious electoral guidelines, INEC should call the parties concerned and ask them to make an adjustment rather than just removing their names on the final Lists”.
The CISLAC Head, hints that INEC have no right to decide to Parties who their Candidates should be, this is clearly spelled out by the Laws, and as such they should explain why they took that actions.
“You should not just act the way you acted and keep quiet, you should come out and make an in-depth explanation why the removal of the names otherwise you left Nigerians with the negative believes that everything is wrong with you”.
The Commission, had penultimate Saturday removed the names of Professor Pantami, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo and other Contestants of Governorship, creating tension and uncertainty in the Nation.
