Custom Arraign 3 Persons For The Trafficking Of 47 Wild Endangered Species

A Federal High Court Presided over by Justice MM Shuaib, has adjourned 7 October 2026, a case involving three Persons accused of Trafficking of 47 Endangered Wildlife Species been apprehended by the Nigeria Custom.
When the case resumes sitting for arraignment, the Counsel to Custom, Barrister Smart Akande, told Court that they are withdrawing the earlier filed three count Charges and substituted with a two Count Charges.
The Presiding Judge strike out the three Count Charges adopted the substituted two count Charges, filed on September 9 2926.
Under count one, the accused Traffickers, Nassif Ahmad, Abba Abdullahi and Sirajo Abdullahi were said to have conspired among themselves to traffic the 47 Endangered Wildlife Species prohibited in the first schedule and committed under section 5(1) and punishable under section 5(1) under the act 2016.
Similarly, under the count two charges, the suspects were accused of been in possession of a 7 wildlife endangered species prohibited under an endangered species control act of International trade regulations, punishable under section 7sub section 3 of the same act.
When the charges were read to the accused Persons they all pleaded not guilty of the two count Charges.
The Presiding Judge, Justice MM Shuaib, said that count one has to do with an agreement for an illegal act, while the second count Charges is the actual offense.
The Plaintiff Council, prayed that the Court would speed up the case because the Monkey Animals who are babies need to be taking to a conservative to have their Mother’s to breastfeed them, while other dangerous animals are right now in Enough.
The Dependant Counsel, Barrister Adamu Muhammad, asked the Court to grant his clients Bail because according to him right now they are suffering.
The Presiding Judge adjourned the case to October 7 for the commencement of hearing in the case and also the hearing of the bail application, he than ordered that the accused be remanded in a close by correctional Center.
In another case the Court granted applications by the Custom seeking to auction some Vehicles.
The Custom Counsel Barrister MM Shuaib while presenting the case said their application was pursuant to prohibition of Custom act 35 and under the jurisdiction of the Court which they are asking the Court permission to dispose the Vehicle’s under a written 45 paragraph affidavit.
The Court granted the application.
