Bandits Kill Ex-Benue SSG Dalifu, 4 Farmers In Deadly Attack In Kwande LGA

Armed bandits on Tuesday shot and killed the former Secretary to the Benue State Government (SSG), Prof. David Dalifu.
Prof. Salifu, who was a Lecturer/Dean at the Federal University, Wukari, was reportedly ambushed on the outskirts of Wukari in Taraba State while he was traveling to Makurdi, Benue State.
He died later in a Makurdi medical facility at night after sustaining severe gunshot wounds during the attack.
Saturday Telegraph gathered that the bandits stopped his vehicle and shot him when he resisted them.
“He managed to survive the initial encounter and escaped with gunshot wounds . He was rushed to a hospital in Makurdi, but sadly did not survive the injuries”, a source told our correspondent.
Similarly, on Thursday, suspected Fulani assailants invaded Anyiase community at Moon council ward in Kwande LGA of the state and left at least four people dead.
The attackers reportedly stormed farmers farms at about 3.20pm killing two farmers identified as Asongo Nagwebe and Tarzan Agbahegh.
Two other victims, a man and a woman, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital in Jato-Aka for treatment.
The injured man, however, reportedly died while being transferred to Makurdi later that night, raising the death toll to three.
Local residents also alleged that the attackers returned yesterday morning and blocked the road at IKyoawen Junction, where they opened fire on a passenger bus.
The number of casualties from the latest attack could not be immediately confirmed at the time of filing this report, as a local resident, Mr. Lawrence Akerigba, confirmed the incidents and and casualty to be four and appealed for urgent security intervention to protect communities in the area.
