2027: Da Hannu Na Arrives in Bauchi to Woo Bala for Tinubu, Plans to Free Inmates
From Muhammad Kabir Kano
A political mobilisation group, Da Hannu Na, operating under the Arewa for Asiwaju platform, has arrived in Bauchi State to woo Governor Bala Mohammed into supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, while planning a humanitarian outreach that includes paying fines for more than 150 inmates.
Jamilu Jadda Garko, chairman of Da Hannu Na and a political mobiliser under the platform, is leading the initiative aimed at opening a channel of political engagement between the Bauchi governor and the President, according to the group.
The group said its mission was designed to promote political dialogue, encourage cooperation and explore areas of common interest between Mohammed and Tinubu ahead of the 2027 polls.
As part of its activities in Bauchi, Da Hannu Na said it would meet Islamic scholars and Tsangaya schoolteachers to discuss issues affecting religious education and community development.
The group also announced plans to visit a correctional centre, where it intends to provide gifts to inmates and assist those eligible for release by paying fines imposed in eligible cases.
According to the group, the initiative is expected to cover more than 150 inmates facing civil cases, although details of the cases, the total amount required and the release arrangements were not provided.
The proposed intervention forms part of the group’s stated humanitarian activities, which it says are intended to support vulnerable people and provide relief to those facing financial difficulties.
On the political front, the group said the Bauchi visit forms part of a broader strategy to engage stakeholders and build alliances across party lines as political consultations gather momentum ahead of 2027.
According to Da Hannu Na, Jadda Garko and his team are pursuing grassroots engagement to encourage a possible political understanding between Governor Mohammed and President Tinubu.
The group expressed optimism that an agreement between the two leaders could influence political calculations in Bauchi State, where competing political interests are preparing for the next electoral contest.
However, Governor Mohammed’s position on the initiative remains unclear, and no formal commitment from him to support Tinubu as a result of the group’s intervention has been confirmed.
Beyond its political engagements, Da Hannu Na said it was also involved in religious outreach across 13 states, involving about 300 Islamic and Tsangaya schools. The programme includes prayers for Tinubu, Nigeria and its leaders, with emphasis on peace, national unity, security and development.
Whether the group’s political engagement will lead to an understanding between Mohammed and Tinubu remains to be seen. Its planned humanitarian intervention, meanwhile, will depend on the verification of eligible cases and the applicable legal procedures for releasing inmates.
