Former Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, CON, is set to receive an honorary doctorate degree from the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, Bauchi State.
The award is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026, during the university’s convocation ceremony.
Adamu, who holds the traditional title of Katukan Katagum, is being recognised for his contributions to journalism, education and public service.
Before joining the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Adamu built a reputation as a journalist and public affairs commentator.
He worked with New Nigerian newspaper and Citizen magazine in Kaduna, where he became known for his analytical writing, intellectual depth and use of satire in public commentary.
He later served as Minister of Education from 2015 to 2023 under Buhari’s administration, overseeing a sector that continues to face challenges involving access to education, infrastructure and quality of learning.
His tenure involved engagements with stakeholders and efforts to address issues affecting Nigeria’s education system.
The honorary degree is expected to bring together academics, public officials, former colleagues and other dignitaries to celebrate his contributions to national development.
The main ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., with a reception to follow at Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare.
The recognition highlights Adamu’s career spanning journalism, intellectual engagement and public service.
