Pressure: Kano Anti Corruption Boss Resign

The Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Saidu Yahaya, has finally submitted to mounting pressure and resigned his appointment.

Yahaya’s resignation followed mounting pressure from the Kano State Government over his alleged failure to perform to expectations

However, neither Yahaya nor the Kano State Government has publicly confirmed the development as of the time of filing this report.

Yahaya was appointed chairman of the PCACC in August 2025 following the expiration of the tenure of the former chairman, Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado. He was approved by the Kano State House of Assembly for a five-year tenure.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, had last few months publicly attacked the Chairman for what he described as a non performance officer of the anti graft agency.

Source indicates that Yahya failure to performed beyond expectations, might not be unconnected to his anticedance as a Federal Anti Corruption Staff not a Politician.

In a released, said, “our attention has been drawn to the renewed circulation of an old video in which Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, Sardaunan Gombe, expressed support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. “For the avoidance of doubt, the video is old and dates back to a period when Dr. Gwamna was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and supported Atiku Abubakar under the platform of that party.” “There is absolutely nothing controversial or unusual about a politician supporting and campaigning for the candidate of his political party at the time.” He further assured that, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna is today a committed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and his political position is clear, public and unequivocal. He stands “100 per cent with the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Governor of Gombe State,Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON.” “The attempt by political opponents to exhume an old video, strip it of its historical and political context, and present it as though it reflects Dr. Gwamna’s position today is nothing more than deliberate mischief and a desperate attempt to distract the APC and the public. Governor Yahya remarks that, the growing acceptance of Dr. Gwamna has become a threat to opposition parties in the state. Knowing that their chances of winning are being narrowed daily by the mass exodus of their chieftains and supporters to the APC in a revolution-like manner, they have resorted to their usual cheap political blackmail by exhuming old clips and attempting to give them new meaning. “Political affiliations change.
