Man Send On Compulsory Retirement Over Alleged Certificate Forgery Sue’s JSC Asking N100M Damages

One Muzabilu Ado who was asked by the Kano State Judicial Service Commission, JSC, to go on compulsory retirement over alleged involvement in Certificate forgery, has sued the Commission, seeking N100 million damages, claiming that the directive has tarnished his reputation and ruined the professional career he has built over the years.
It could be recalled that the Kano State Judicial Service Commission, in a statement dated 6th July, 2026 issued by its Spokesperson Baba Jibo Ibrahim, alleged that irregularities and alterations were found in his academic records, and directed him to proceed on compulsory retirement to serve as a deterrent to others.
The statement reads, the Judicial Service Commission directed Muzambilu Ado, Acting Director, Information and Statistics, Shari’a Court of Appeal to proceed on the compulsory retirement with immediate effect following the findings of the Establishment Committee which established serious irregularities in his academic credentials, including alteration of his academic records and irregular admission into the Nigerian Law School without the approval of the Commission.
However in his statement of claim, Ado denied all the allegations of irregularities and alterations in his academic records.
He claims that he was employed by the Kano State Judiciary in 2006 with a Diploma in Public Administration obtained from Kaduna Polytechnic, insisting that he never submitted an HND certificate as his qualification during any of the verification exercises he attended.
This, he argued contradicts the JSC’s assertion that he forged an HND certificate with alterations in his grades.Philosophy.
Speaking about his LLB program, Muzambilu Ado explained that he enrolled at Imperial University College, Sudan, where he obtained his LLB certificate in 2022.
However, according to a reply from Imperial University College, Sudan, addressed to the Secretary of the Judicial Service Commission, Kano State, regarding Muzambilu Ado’s request for verification of his academic records, the institution confirmed that he was duly enrolled in its LLB program and certified that he completed all required courses.
The University further testified that Ado had initially pursued his LLB in Shari’a and Civil Law at Alnahda International University, Niger Republic. He later applied to transfer to Imperial University College after Alnahda failed to submit his name for the Bar Part I program of the Nigerian Law School as a foreign student, due to its lack of accreditation with the Nigerian Law School.
He refuted the claim that the JSC acted on behalf of one Sani Manzo, whom he described as a fictitious name. He also noted that he never received a copy of the petition to defend himself, nor was he issued a query, which he argued was against civil service rules and regulations.
Speaking on his request to attend the Nigerian Law School, he said that five of them applied, but according to him, the other four were allowed while the JSC did not send him any notification to proceed or recall him.
He explained that after submitting his request, what was expected was either an approval to proceed or a rejection, but he received neither. He further said that after he went ahead with the program, he was accused of committing an offence by gaining admission without official approval.
He prayed the court to set aside the Nigerian Law School’s decision to expel him, arguing that the School’s inability to reach Imperial University College through its official email address to verify his academic records could not be his fault.
He contended that the Law School ought to have multiple means of verifying students’ academic records, rather than limiting itself solely to the use of an office email address.
He therefore prayed the court to declare the JSC directive null and void, arguing that it was not in accordance with the law.
When contacted, Baba Jibo Ibrahim, Spokesperson of the Kano State Judiciary, declined to comment directly on the allegations raised by Muzambilu Ado.
He explained that it would not be proper for him to engage with Mr. Ado after he had been directed to resign from service, and because the matter is sub judice, having already been filed at the National Industrial Court.
However, he noted that, in the public interest, it was important to clarify the misinformation he circulated.
According to Jibo, the issue originated from a petition submitted by a judicial staff member at the Kano State Shari’a Court of Appeal, Sani Manzo, to the Judicial Service Commission and the subsequently JSC notified Nigerian Law School to proceed with the verification

The Nigerian Law School, upon receiving the petition, sent a letter to Imperial University College using the email addresses contained in the results submitted by the claimant.
However, he noted that all the emails were undelivered.
When asked by Justice Watch News Correspondent to clarify the response purportedly from Imperial University College, Sudan, to the Kano JSC, obtained Baba Jibo stated that the claimant might have forged the document, as he failed to present it when summoned by the committee.
Speaking on Ado’s admission to the Nigerian Law School, the spokesperson maintained that the claimant was not supposed to proceed with his studies without official approval.Africans & Diaspora
He added that ignoring the allegations could not justify continuing studies without authorization.
Baba Jibo further explained that in a letter from the Nigerian Law School to the Kano JSC, captioned “RE: Urgent Request for Clarification on the Status of Ado Muzambilu”, the Law School revoked the claimant’s license to continue his studies after he failed to provide adequate information regarding his academic qualifications.
He noted that, “the Law School subsequently sought to verify his academic credentials by corresponding with Imperial University through its official email address. However, all such emails were returned undelivered, and no response was received.”Philosophy
Responding to questions about the claimant’s academic qualifications at the point of employment, Baba Jibo stated that the issue was not about the certificates he submitted, but rather the irregularities found in them, which affected his integrity as a judicial staff member.
He affirmed that the JSC is prepared to defend its actions with factual evidence.
Reports indicate that while Muzambilu Ado stands as the Claimant in the suit he instituted the Defendants include: Judicial Service Commission, Kano State, Kano State Governor and Attorney General of Kano state.
