Kebbi Governor’s Wife Leads Cancer Walk, Donates N20m To Women Entrepreneurs

The wife of the Kebbi State Governor and Founder of NANAS Foundation, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris, on Tuesday led the 2026 Cancer Awareness Walk in Birnin Kebbi.
The walk, which kicked off from the Government House to the Haliru Abdu Stadium, attracted hundreds of participants including wife of the deputy governor, Wife of the SSG, wives of Commissioners, wives of Local Government Chairmen, wives of Special Advisers, various women groups, Non-Governmental Organizations, student groups, top government officials, and health implementing partners.
Speaking during the walk, Dr. Nafisa said regular exercise and early medical checks are key to preventing cancer.
She called on all stakeholders to collectively intensify awareness to ensure early detection and treatment.
She also pledged continuous support for cancer patients through her foundation.
The Commissioner for Health, Comrade Yakubu Samaila Augie, lauded the Governor’s wife for sustaining the initiative for three years.
In a major highlight, Dr. Nafisa inspected products at the EMPOWER HER Trade Fair and donated N20 million to support women entrepreneurs.
The event featured health talks, free screening, and a concert with Kannywood stars.
