As Nigerian citizens, we have tremendous respect for His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State, particularly for his vision and determination to transform Kano into a mega city.
More so, we have full confidence in His Excellency’s commitment to justice, rule of law and educational advancement.
It is in this regard we would like to draw your Excellency’s attention regarding a stalled Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement concerning the Hajj Pilgrims Camp, in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State.
While there was an existing partnership with the previous government on the development of the site, it was sad that we woke up to the demolishing of all the building structures. Sir, as beneficiaries of the PPP arrangement we were in panic, and were left in a state of confusion.
Under the binding PPP arrangement with the Kano State Government during the previous administration, we have committed our private resources to construct a modern educational facility at Ganduje Town, in Dawakin Tofa LGA, purposely to expand access to quality education and demonstrate our commitment to the partnership agreement.
What prompted Government allocation of the parcel of land at Hajj Camp, Fagge to us was its resolve to compensate an earlier land allocated to us at Kabara, Kano Municipal, which was taken over by Government.
We have mobilized resources, engaged experts and commenced development on the Hajj Camp site, but the structures have now been pulled down and the project stalled.
Our appeal, is for the government to reconsider the revocation plan, and review the partnership arrangements. We believe governance is a continuum, hence, we respectfully urge His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir to consider this matter in the best interest of public good, justice and investor confidence:
Justice to us as partners would be seen in good faith, reduce our hardships and promote a valid legal framework.
At a time of educational infrastructure deficit.in the State, halting a school project, like the one understanding construction at Ganduje Town deprives host communities of vital access.
While urging His Excellency to.consider the State’s investment climate by honouring contractual agreement validly signed into, your action would further reassure investors that Kano is a credible and safe destination for partnerships.
We believe in constructive dialogue, as this would help the government to realign the project with the present administration’s priorities.
Our Prayers, Sir:
We humbly appeal to His Excellency to:
Direct relevant MDAs to review and respect the terms of the PPP agreement;
Grant us an audience for a joint review to clear any misunderstandings;
Allow the ongoing educational project at Ganduje Town to continue in the overall interest of Kano State.
As concerned citizens, and PPP partners with the Kano State Government, we look up to the government to treat the situation justly and with every fairness.
For and on behalf of concerned members.
Hassan Yusuf
